Blythe a Day June 14th-17th

June 14th: Tell me a story- Rabbit want a story about cowboys.

June 15th: Heart- Ginny is wild at heart.

June 16th: What's in your pocket?- Gatsby has a half eaten gingerbread man in her pocket.  At least he looks happy about it.

June 17th: You've got mail- Sun says, "Open the Birchbox, woman!" Someone is impatient.

I'm skipping June 12th.  I can't get myself motivated to go back.

Little Severus

Little Severus (name for now) is complete with a boy body!  I ordered the Licca Boyfriend to be the donor.

The neck is a lot different than Licca.  I did not get photos of any of my alterations, but there is a good photo on Flickr by a customizer.*  I essentially mimicked her solution.  I did find that the two pieces of the body at the neck was not sealed well so I had to resort to a type of glue, that I will not mention, to keep the screw in to hold the washer.*

Severus and Gatsby.

Severus is about one inch taller than a stock Blythe.  Gatsby has a Licca body.

His feet do seem to be very similar to this Licca's feet.  I am hopeful that I have shoes that will fit him. So far, all that I know will fit him is his stock clothing.  I will try out the rest of Over the Stripes stock.

I hope to sew him some jeans and make him a knitted slouchy hat this weekend.

*Search "boy Blythe."   The customizer is named Astrosnik.

*It is not recommended type of glue for dolls.

Skipper fashion

As mentioned in previous post I have become obsessed trying to find vintage Skipper fashion for my Blythes.  My passion for the search has waned a bit.  I actually have some advise for people who are hunting for vintage pieces.  I am no expert on vintage or Skipper or Mattel.  I just found a few things in my purchases and searching.

Suggestion 1-  Avoid lots.
Although lot of items are tantalizing and sometimes are great deals, I found most often that the items were not completely as described. I got many duplicates because of this and there was a lot of trash with treasures. In the long run, I don't think the lots really paid off.

Plus, I ended up with dolls that I don't really have a use for. And, a doll case.

Suggestion 2-  Don't pass up the single items.
In the long run buying single pieces probably adds up in cost, but you get exactly what you want the first time.

Suggestion 3-  Cross reference.
Cross reference prices on Ebay and Etsy. And, make sure to check recently ended auctions also. This gives you a better idea if you are paying a fair price.  Sometime paying a little more for a clean item is worth it.  Little laundry can be tiresome.

Here are a few of my finds:

Mickey Hat

Gatsby's Mickey Hat

I should add a band all the way around to make it fit better.  Maybe that can be done tonight....

Gatsby is packing!

I mentioned in a previous post about taking Gatsby to Disney World.  This week we both have been packing! I'm packed up (mostly) and she started last night.

I purchased Snowflake Sonata stock outfit just for the trip! Oh the crown is adorable.  I can't wait to get a photo of her standing in front of Cinderella's Castle wearing it!!
-Side note, the family invested in "Park Hopper" passes so we can come and go as we please. Hopefully, I will get some pics without tons of people in it.

The Snow White dress was a success.  I made some mistakes but overall it worked out.

Sorry for the blurry photo.  I think something is wrong with my older camera lens.
I didn't catch it until I already uploaded photos.

Who is going to Disney World?

Gatsby with her toy giraffe that I got her from the zoo.
I dislike posting without pics!

My family and I are going to Disney World! I just can't go without a Blythe.  Now the question is who should go and what clothing should she have?

Gatsby has been my travel girl recently. I like that her hair is so easy to fix.  Long hair is a nightmare.

Or,

Should I take one of my Middie girls?  The are a bit smaller.  Better fit for my carry on.

I want to make whoever goes a princess dress.  Snow White stuck in my head, no sure why.... I hope to make it this weekend. I have the yellow material for the skirt and some of the details I plan to used wool felt (like the red details in Snow White's sleeves).

I already made a Micky Ears hat a couple weeks ago.  Thanks to Jam Fancy, she provided the pattern online for free.  Very sweet. Oops, no photo yet.  I didn't upload it to Flickr.

I know for sure that I will pack Nicky Lad boots and Takara black and purple boots.  It seems with boots there is risk of them falling off.

More on this soon.  I will get some photos of the dress and hat.

Meet Gatsby!

This is Gatsby.  She and her little kitty (who is very secretive about her name) are always up to mischief.  Just the other day I found a wubber chicken in Gatsby's boot.  How did that get there?  I think I heard the two cohorts snickering.

Sneaky. Kitty has the "Puss n' Boots" look so I knew something was up.

Gatsby likes to hide things in her pocket.

Gatsby started this life as a Takara RBL Cassiopeia Spice Blythe.  Only alteration, so far, has been a bobbed hair cut.  I trimmed her bangs up pretty short too.

In the future I may change out some eyechips.
